Douglas County voters are concerned about the recent revelation that Chris Boice has hired a convicted pedophile and child rapist to work at his Big O Tires business in Roseburg—reportedly so he can pay them less than other workers.
Boice’s Big O Tires employee Kyle Andrew Humphreys of Grants Pass, Oregon, was convicted of first-degree rape, using a child in display of sexually explicit conduct, second-degree sexual assault, first-degree online sexual assault of a minor, purchasing sex with a minor, and computer crime, of two young girls while employed at the Boys and Girls Club of the Umpqua Valley in 2019.

In January of 2020, Humphries was sentenced to 70 months in prison for his crimes.
This alarming news has caused many Douglas County voters to boycott Boice’s Big O Tires at 2545 NW Stewart Parkway in Roseburg.
But many are also unwilling to vote for a candidate some are calling “a pedophile protector.”
Things got worse after Boice turned to social media to defended his decision to hire a convicted pedophile and child rapist.
“Yes, I hire secondhand employees here, people who have made mistakes,” Boice wrote. “Do you want to know what I’m doing about the homeless problem?? I’m employing people who without jobs would be homeless…”
“Second chance employees and pedophiles are not the same thing,” Boice added. “Second chance employees are typically drug court graduates. We’ve had plenty. The person you are referring to is not one of them.”

But to make matters worse, Boice insists “BTW, a pedophile, and someone with a sexual offense are not the same thing…”
Apparently, Chris Boice does not consider a person convicted of first-degree rape, using a child in display of sexually explicit conduct, second-degree sexual assault, first-degree online sexual assault of a minor, purchasing sex with a minor, and computer crime—to be a pedophile.
Now, it appears Boice is moving out of Douglas County—bad optics five weeks before the November 3, 2026, election in which he is running for reelection as county commissioner.
Last week, Boice put his five-bedroom house on 13 acres at 225 Dawson Road in Roseburg up for sale for $1,099,900.

Sources close to the Douglas County Sheriff’s office report that there have been several domestic violence calls to this address, but apparently no charges filed as yet.
Readers will remember that Boice filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2000.
In 2011, he refinanced his Roseburg residence at 4205 NE Douglas Avenue, taking more than $100,000 in equity out of the property before ultimately foreclosing.
While bankruptcies of this kind usually take a year or more, Boice’s bankruptcy was inexplicably completed in only less than four months.
According to Douglas County Tax Assessor records, on July 30, 2019, Boice and his former wife Dolly Clarissa Boice purchased the property at 225 Dawson Road from former Douglas County Public Health Network Executive Officer Dr. Robert Louis Dannenhoffer for $750,000.

On the very same day, Boice purchased another three properties from Dr. Dannenhoffer totaling $1,250,000:
• Parcel R109595, 38.57 acres at a cost of $250,000.
• Parcel R68746, 41.34 acres at a cost of $250,000.
• Parcel R42548, 0.7 acres at a cost of $750,000.
Boice also bought a new $100,000 silver Porche Cayenne and a $600,000 airplane, posting photos of his pricey acquisitions on his Facebook page on May 26, 2023.
But Boice’s position of Douglas County commissioner only pays $130,000 a year So, where did he suddenly get millions of dollars?
That is to say, how can he afford airplane hangar rental and aircraft maintenance fees? How did he pay for his Dodge Ram 350 and a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited—both with “Boice” vanity license plates?

Some allege that Boice inappropriately diverted public funds in a quid pro quo deal that allowed him to launder taxpayer dollars before putting them in his pocket.
No wonder voters are concerned that Boice is moving out of Douglas County.
Many readers will remember how, in 2014, when Boice’s fellow carpetbagger Dallas Heard decided to run for Oregon House District 2, he filed with the Secretary of State, indicating that his address was “2330 Dairy Loop Rd. Roseburg OR 97471.”
But that address is not actually in House District 2.
According to Oregon law, one must have lived in the district for a year before election day to run for office in that legislative district.
When the Secretary of State questioned Dallas Heard about this discrepancy, Heard filed an amended filing claiming he lived in Myrtle Creek—a city that is actually in HD2.
But the Myrtle Creek address Heard provided turned out a house already occupied by Chris Boice and his family.
Few Dougals County voters found it credible that Heard and his wife and kids were living with Chris Boice and his wife and kids—just as carpetbagger Mitt Romney claimed he lived in the unfinished basement of his son’s house.
Voters want to know if adultery or domestic violence are responsible for Boice’s divorce from his wife Dolly—especially those who have seen Christian awards and endorsements posted on Boice’s website and Facebook page just weeks before the election that may very well unseat Boice from his position as county commissioner.

How does he do it on a $130,000 a year salary?
