The Winchester Dam on the North Umpqua River was Condemned by the Oregon Water Resource Department Dam Safety Division in 1976. ODFW’s Fish Passage Task Force ranks it 26th highest of 502 barriers to fish passage in Oregon. The dam’s ONLY purpose is private recreation for its 99 property owners. Many people have contacted you about Winchester Dam seeking assistance with its removal. When can we expect an ‘environmental champion’ Senator Merkley to lend his assistance? Bring down the dam. Bring back the fish and the jobs.
